Golden distinctions were awarded at PDO wines Santorini Assyrtiko 2016, Santorini Assyrtiko Grande Reserve 2014, and at the naturally sweet red wine made from sun-dried grapes Kratiras 2002 with the impressive ageing of 13 years in oak barrels. Meanwhile, two more silver medals for Nikteri Vinsanto 2016 and 2010 completed the outstanding performance of SantoWines at this unique international wine competition that takes place in Greece organized by ENOAVE.
It is worth noting that this year, Mr. Konstantinos Lazarakis MW was the President of the Competition, while among the 42 members of the jury from 24 countries , there were 5 Masters of Wine and 1 Master Sommelier. In total were evaluated 757 wines and 26 spirits from 8 countries.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday, March 11during the Gala Dinner of Oenorama Wine Fair, at Zappeion, with the presence of Mr Markos Kafouros, President of SantoWines, Mr. Matthew Dimopoulos, General Manager and the oenological team led by Mr. Nikos Varvarigos.
With great honor SantoWines dedicates these distinctions to its members, all the vine cultivators and farmers of the island whose collective effort during these 70 years laid the foundation for the preservation and promotion of the unique in the world products of the volcanic Santorini land.
